Dr. Quinlan is the CEO of Ochsner International, a division of Ochsner Health System based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ochsner has been involved in international medicine since its inception in 1942. The international services of Ochsner include the direct provision of complex medical care, a second opinion program, telemedicine, undergraduate and graduate medical education, training of ancillary medical professionals, hospital facility and program consultation, and leadership development for physicians, administrators and faculty, with particular emphasis on integrated care and clinical outcomes.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Quinlan was CEO of the Ochsner Health System from 2001-2013, when the system grew from a single, closed staff, quaternary care hospital to southeast Louisiana’s largest, nonprofit, academic, multispecialty healthcare delivery system. Ochsner owns, manages or is affiliated with 25 hospitals and more than 50 health centers across the region and has 2,700 affiliated physicians. Ochsner has achieved many national awards for quality, including designation as Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital for 2015. Ochsner was named No. 2 in the country and No. 1 in Louisiana for Overall Hospital Care in CareChex 2014 hospital ratings.

Dr. Quinlan joined Ochsner in 1998 as the Chief Medical Officer. He served as the CEO of the Ochsner Clinic from 1999-2001 and was appointed CEO of the Ochsner Health System in 2001. In 2007 he was named the #1 most powerful physician executive in the nation by Modern Physician Magazine. In 2008 he was selected as one of the “100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare Magazine. Ochsner’s leadership team also received the National Top Leadership award in 2006 from Health Leaders Magazine.

Dr. Quinlan graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Economics with special honours in Economics from the University of Texas, an MD from UT Galveston, and an MS in Hospital Administration from the College of St. Francis. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and is Board Certified in dermatology. He is past chair of Ochsner Health Plan, served on the Regional Policy Committee of the American Hospital Association and currently serves on the Board of Pan-American Life Insurance Group, the Boards of Louisiana Hospital Association and the Metro Hospital Council, Healthcare Solutions Committee of the US Chamber of Commerce, and the Advisory Board of the Iberia Bank.
