Ammar Kanaan is the group chairman of the Portia Management Services Group, a group of companies that provides port management, transport engineering as well as transport software services. Portia is operational in the United States, United Kingdom, China, Turkey, Lebanon, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, where through its subsidiary National Ports Services Ltd, it is engaged in managing the container terminal at King Abdullah Port, as well as other port and marine projects for the Saudi Ports Authority and Aramco. Mr. Kanaan has 25 years of experience in the field, and he is an expert in transportation economics, transportation systems, port management, and transportation policy. He spent the first 15 years of his career working out of Boston, Massachusetts as a consultant for the industry where he served organizations such as World Bank in the areas of transportation economics and privatization. Mr. Kanaan has a Bachelor in Engineering from the American University of Beirut and a Masters of Science in Transportation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
