Dr. Faisal Hamad Al Sugair Holds a Bachelor's degree with First Class Honors in Civil Engineering from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia, and M.Sc. & Ph.D. degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from Stanford University in the United States of America. He also attended Harvard University’s “Advanced Management Program (AMP160)”. He has held various positions throughout his career starting as a Professor of Civil Engineering at King Saud University in Riyadh, where he also served as Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering from 1993-1995. He moved to Advanced Electronics Company at the beginning of 1996 where he was Vice President-projects, and later became Senior Vice President and General Manager leading the Military Systems Business Unit until October 2004. In October 2004 he became General Manager of Corporate Business Development of Al Muhaidib Group of Companies, and later became a founding shareholder and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Transportation Company in 2007. In March 2011 a Royal Decree was issued appointing him the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation. In November 2011, Dr. Al Sugair was appointed Vice Chairman and Vice President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) responsible for all day to day activities.

Dr. Al Sugair served as a Board Member for several companies before joining GACA including Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain), SABB Takaful Insurance Company, Northern Region Cement Company, Arabian Pipes Company, Saudia Airlines Cargo Company and Riyadh Cables Group.

In 2004, Dr. Al Sugair was awarded the King AbdulAziz Medal of the First Degree by the late King Fahad bin AbdulAziz for his efforts in advancing science and excellence in scientific research.

In September 2015, Dr. Al Sugair retired from his position at GACA and became Chairman of the Saudi Civil Aviation Holding Company in addition to being an Advisor to the President of GACA.
