Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ghelaiqah is currently a Senior Economist at the Macroeconomic and Fiscal Management Department (Global Practice) at the Middle East and North Africa Region at the World Bank. Dr. Al-Ghelaiqah is currently working on fiscal issues related to public expenditure management, public financial management, public expenditure review and public investment management in countries such as GCC, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Libya and Syria and other countries in MENA. He is actively involved in providing policy advice for economic developments and planning. A conspicuous achievements is his role with the Omanis authorities through the recent Ninth Five-Year Development Plan framing Oman’s “2020 Vision”. Dr. Al-Ghelaiqah is a Saudi national who has retired from Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA). Prior to joining the World Bank, Dr. Al-Ghelaiqah was a senior economist at the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the IMF for ten years and worked on several Middle Eastern countries. Dr. Al-Ghelaiqah provides strategic leadership and direction as a Task Team Manager to several projects to MENA Region especially GCC countries as well as groups working on economic policy formulation in the area of growth and macroeconomic management and fiscal policies, economic modeling and monitoring, labor market, private sector development, and public sector management and governance.
