He obtained his B.Sc. from the King Abdulaziz University,Saudi Arabia, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.
He joined King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Saudi Arabia, as the Manager of the Solar Thermal Simulation Laboratory in 1986 and became the Director of the Energy Research Institute of KACST. In June 2007, he was appointed as the Vice-Governor for Consumer & Service Provider Affairs at the Electricity & Co-Generation Regulatory Authority (ECRA) of Saudi Arabia. In December 2011 he was appointed as Governor of prestigious government organization, Saline Water Conversion Corporation which is global leader in seawater desalination.
Since September 2013 Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Ibrahim is a Board member of Environment and Water Technologies International Advisory Panel, Singapore (EWT-IAP). He is also a member of King Abdullah University for Science and Technology’s (KAUST’s) Industrial Advisory Board (KIAB).
