Dr. Khaled AlSabti, in his current role as member of Shoura Council, draws on his remarkable career spanning both the public and private sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and internationally. He is known for his strong leadership, commitment to excellence as well as passion for innovation, ICT and education.
He has held numerous senior roles related to the education sector. Most recently he was the Minister of Higher Education. His previous roles in the sector include Vice Minister of Education, Vice Minister for Boys Education, Secretary General of King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) as well as the role of Chairman of Tatweer educational holding company and board member of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).
In the field of ICT he has an equally remarkable past as general director of the national e-government program (yesser), IT advisor of the Saudi ICT minister, board member of the Saudi Computer Society and faculty member in the computer science department, King Saud University - Saudi Arabia. In addition he has worked in similar fields within the private sector both in the US and Saudi Arabia, including Hitachi America Data Mining In the Silicon Valley, IBM TJ Watson Research Center, NY, as well as Niagara Mohawk Power Company, NY; and as Board Member of the Saudi Electricity Company.
Dr. Khaled AlSabti is recognized for his scientific and innovative contributions. He was awarded the “King Abdulaziz First Class Medal” in 2004 and the King Saud University excellence medal in 2007. He has co-invented two patents in the data mining field which were subsequently granted by the US Patents Office. The knowledge and insights of Dr. Khaled AlSabti have been widely published in many scientific and practical journals ad as well as displayed in relevant conferences, forums, councils and committees.
Dr. Khaled AlSabti’s career is founded on a strong academic track record. He earned his PhD. and MSc. Computer Science degrees from Syracuse University, New York. He achieved a First Class Honors grade as BSc. Computer Science degree from King Saud University, Riyadh. In addition his continued commitment to learning has led him to attend the Accelerated Executive Development program, London Business School, UK; Managing Partnerships and Strategic Alliances program, INSEAD, France; and High Performance Boards, IMD, Switzerland.
